Eagle Scout Boards of Review

(Updated: May 2016)

Due to end-of-school activities, May Eagle Board-of-Reviews have been cancelled. Please contact Advancement Chair, Martin Meletio to schedule your BoR for June 2016.

Eagle Scout boards of review for Blackland Prairie District are held on the third Thursday of every month from January through October at:

Eagle Rank Metal

     Good Shepherd Episcopal Church  MAP
     11122 Midway Road
     Dallas, TX 75229

Use the Northaven Road parking lot and entrance on the east side of the church. (At the green arrow on the map.)

It is the official policy of the BSA and Circle Ten Council that the key information in the Eagle Scout Rank Application be verified by Circle Ten Council BEFORE a board of review may be scheduled for you. Check with your unit’s advancement coordinator: Your unit may coordinate application verifications for you or you may be instructed to submit the application for verification directly to Circle Ten Council by sending a copy of just the Eagle Scout Rank Application - only the front and back of the application form (#512728) - to Brittany Stanley (214-902-6714):

  • By email to Brittany.Stanley@scouting.org, or
  • By fax to ATTN: Brittany Stanley at 214-902-6789, or
  • By delivery to the Circle Ten Council offices located at 8605 Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas.

If you submit your application for verification directly, you can expect a response from Circle Ten Council within 10 days; be sure to include your email address. Once you receive the verification notice from Circle Ten Council, print the response document and attach it to your Eagle Scout Rank Application.

Using the current Blackland Prairie District Eagle Application ChecklistDownload the Eagle Credentials Checklist, you and your unit leadership should review all of the Eagle Scout candidate credentials you will be submitting to the district advancement committee with your request for a board of review. The checklist guides you and the unit’s leadership through a detailed review of the Eagle Scout Rank Application and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy. Inaccurate or incomplete documentation will likely delay your board of review and could potentially prevent you from attaining the Eagle Scout rank. Please include the check-marked copy of the checklist in your Eagle Scout credentials package.

To schedule an Eagle Scout board of review, a completed Eagle Scout Rank Application and all the supporting documents (including Circle Ten Council’s verification notice) MUST be submitted to the Blackland Prairie District Advancement Committee no later than the first day of the month in which you desire a board of review to be conducted. Since it is unlikely that any monthly board of review session will host more than 14 Scouts, you are encouraged to submit your Eagle Scout credentials package as early as possible to ensure a space on the desired date. You should then send an email message to the Blackland Prairie District Advancement Committee at advancement@blacklandprairie.info alerting them that you have submitted your complete Eagle Scout credentials package.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is preferred the Scout be in full uniform for his Eagle Scout board of review. He should wear as much of it as he owns, and it should be as correct as possible, with the badges worn properly. Since the Order of the Arrow sash is worn only at OA events and when representing the OA and is never worn over the belt or with a merit badge sash, wearing an OA sash at the Eagle Scout board of review is not appropriate.

  • Eagle candidates should arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled board.
  • Troops must provide 2 to 3 members for the board, all at least 21 years old. They need not be on an advancement committee or registered with the Boy Scouts of America, but they must have an understanding of the purpose and importance of the review. (Guide to Advancement, 8.0.3.0)Guide to Advancement, no. 8.0.3.0
  • Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters may not serve on a Board of Review for a scout in their own unit. Parents or guardians may not serve on a board for their own son.
  • Board members should arrive 30 minutes early to review the applicant’s materials.
